Glenlossie

Category: Speyside
Distiller: John Haig & Co
Owner: Diageo plc
Status: Operational

Glenlossie Distillery was built in 1876 by John Duff, a publican who had been the manager of Glendronnach for several years.

A private railway siding constructed on the line that ran between Elgin and Perth cut the costs of transporting incoming supplies and consignments of whisky to the markets in the south.

In 1971, Mannochmore Distillery was built within the same complex and John Haig and Co became the licensed distillers. Glenlossie is rated "top class" by blenders.

Extract from The Mitchell Beazley Pocket Whisky Book by the whisky expert Charles Maclean.
