| Three miles outside Elgin, close to the Pluscarden Priory, the distillery was licensed in 1824 as Miltonduff-Glenlivet.
It was renovated in the 1890's but suffered badly in the whisky crash of 1900.
It was sold to Hiram Walker in 1936, which licensed it to George Ballantine & Sons.
Alfred Barnard, visiting Miltonduff in 1877, wrote, "Some of the oldest fads and methods are in use [here], and the ancient style of stills and utensils, as carried on by the smugglers, have also be continued."
